In my free time, I really enjoy watching series and reading books to entertain my self and to pass the time. This means that I have read and watched a lot of books and movies. There are some that I enjoyed and others less. However, there are two works of arts that stand out from the rest: Incendies by Wajdi Mouawad and the serie Prodigal Son.

Incendies

Incendies

Wajdi Mouawad is a Lebanese-Quebec playwriting who created the play Incendies. This plays tells the unfortunate fate of a family in Lebanon during the civil war. I enjoyed reading this book, first of all, because the plot is well brought. Incendies is the story of a woman, Nawal Marwan, who immigrated after the civil war, marked by religious conflicts and personal tragedies. Highlighting this woman in Incendies is giving a voice to all the women who suffered during that period. This play shows, once again, that writing is means of emancipation and freedom. What makes it even more interressant, is that the book is based on a true story and includes important elements of the Lebanese civil war. What I appreciated the most is the ending of the play, which completely overwhelmed me. It is for all these reasons that I enjoyed reading this book.

Prodigal Son

Prodigal Son is a television series that tells the story of the son of a famous Serial Killer in New York. He works as an assistant for the police and suffers from many traumas and psychological disorders. In this series, we follow how he manages his issues as well as all the cases he has to solve for the police. It feels as if there are two stories in one, wich sometimes cross paths. That is why I enjoyed this series, because it is complete and interesting. Moreover, I am big fan of crime shows and mysteries in general. In this series, we learn more about human behavior and family relationships, which can be very complicated. What I liked was the feeling of having two series within a single one.
